Sacramental Preparation 2022

First Reconciliation and First Communion Sacrament

The seven sacraments in our Catholic faith are Jesus’ special way of coming to us and acting in our hearts through theses signs of love. Jesus knows we would need the gifts of God’s grace to fully live our faith throughout our lives and to strengthen us on this life’s journey.  Each sacrament is celebrated with specific rituals, prayers and symbols. Each serves a sacred purpose and helps us to grow in faith and draw closer to God.

The sacrament through which Jesus forgives us of our sin is known as Reconciliation (or Penance). This is a good word as it means “getting to be friends again.” It is meant to fill our hearts with peace and joy when we forgive and are forgiven.

Registration for First Reconciliation for your child (child must be in Grade 2 or older) will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 7 pm or Saturday, September 10th at 2 pm., at the parish (please choose one date).  At these registrations, there will be a meeting with the child and parent to discuss the program and the requirements.  A copy of your child’s baptism certificate MUST be attached to the registration form, even if they were baptized at St. John Bosco (registration form available here or on the back table of the church or at the parish office).

This program will be 8 weeks in person class and will consist of reading a lesson per week, doing the assigned activity/questions and attending the class every Saturday at 3:30 pm from October 1st to November 26th (except October 8th – Thanksgiving).

The Reconciliation Celebration will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 7 pm at the parish.

This program requires commitment from both the child and parent.  Attendance at the weekend Mass and at every class is mandatory.

If you, as a parent, are interested in assisting in this program or if you have any questions, contact
Joyce – [email protected] or call the parish 780 478 0198

First Communion Registration will be in March 2023

Joy! Joy! Each time we celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, our sins are forgiven, and Jesus fills our heart with his grace. His grace will guide us to always choose to be kind and loving – making us happy that our hearts seem to sing! Jesus is happy and He rejoices with us.g this most important time in their faith life!
